A sad day
SadnessIt was inevitable, ever since he'd been diagnosed with the cancer in his upper jaw. The swelling was starting to close his left eye, and the vet told us it's possible the cancer was growing behind his eye as well, putting uncomfortable pressure on it. The visible sore was painful to look at, he was staring to lose his appetite... all the signs were saying "it's time".
I wish now that I'd taken more pictures of Booger when he was younger and healthy; it was hard to find a good picture of him. Booger was a good cat, and we will miss him terribly.
Having Pepper around now will be good after all. We'd originally not planned to get another cat until Booger passed, but circumstances dictated otherwise. Now, at least, Pepper will keep the house from feeling empty, and all the love and care we gave Booger we can now give to Pepper.

Speaking from experience, my one and only dog -- Jonathan (sheltie/bassett/chow mix) -- was with me for ten years before he succumbed to canine leukemia. Was a sad day to bring him home to bury him in the grandparent's back yard. That's where all the family pets were placed.
I miss my Jon, but I'll always cherish the time spent with my good, four-legged friend.
Hope you can do the same with Boog. Keep the faith, my friend.
