And I was so proud of the amount of art I was able to get done a couple of weeks ago - three TCCs for June and substantial porgress on The Albatross (a large commission job that I've been working on - and off - for literally years). I had my eyeglasses updated about three weeks ago, including a single-vision pair for dedicated computer use. Those new glasses really made a difference - my eyes don't get tired now from long periods of time at the computer, and I don't get sleepy after just a couple of hours drawing. So I was really looking forward to being more prolific in my art.
Then we got Pepper dumped on us. (I'm just now realizing the pun potential of the kitten's new name. And you know how much I love puns, especially bad ones
The situation is that our two cats don't get along. Booger hates Pepper, and Pepper... I'm not sure how Pepper feels about the Boog. I've seen Pepper charge after Booger, but I don't know if that's from aggression or just that he thinks Booger's an extra-large playmate. Although one of the reasons our relative gave us for making us take the kitten off her hands was that he was "attacking" the other cat in their household. And Pepper does get "feisty" sometimes... The upshot is, the two cats cannot spend very long in the house together.
And yet I can't find it in my heart to exile Booger outdoors until his passing; it feels heartless to do so. I don't want Booger to feel that he's been replaced in our affections, so we still feed him indoors. This means isolating Pepper while Booger's eating, usually by feeding him at the same time, or else confining him to a bedroom while Booger dines, and putting up with Pepper's crying. (And there's an edge to Pepper's voice that makes me wonder if he's part Siamese.)
Plus there's the fact that Pepper is in his "awwww he's so cute I wanna cuddle him" phase, so it's hard to resist taking time to pet on him.
(Well, as I've mentioned before: had it been our choice, we wouldn't have thought about bringing another cat into the house until Booger passes.)
But it has distracted me from getting as much art done as I wanted.
(Heh - the "cat fight" emoticon is appropriate, ne?)

"I reject your reality and substitute my own!"
Boog's has another cat in his territory and Pep has both a playmate and a rival in Boog.
the kitten will always test itself against the older cat and jump on then run away, because it's all playing to the kitten.
best to feed them separately for a while, because that is the time when they get really territorial and kittens alway eat more than older cats, so food theft is always going to happen.
