The final version of "Tara Attacks" is up [link] I'm mostly happy with how it came out; although her left arm (holding the slingshot) was giving me problems. I wanted to give Tara more of an athletic build than she had in the original cartoon, without giving her the muscle mass I usually draw my women with. (I don't draw enough of things other than muscle-babes, and I have to increase my versatility lest I stagnate as an artist.) And foreshortening has always been a "challenge" for me.
But, like I said (or should that be "as" I said), I'm pleased with the result, and decided not to "let the perfect be the enemy of the good", as the saying goes.

The unusual weather pattern we had here in Central Florida that was giving us days and days of almost constant rain has moved off... but now we're into the usual summer weather pattern of afternoon showers and thunderstorms that pop up almost every afternoon. Florida being a peninsula, the sea breezes come in from both coasts (the Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico) and collide right over Central Florida; and depending on the amount of humidity and heat that's built up during the day, it's always wise to be prepared for rain in the afternoon.
But Janet and I are so thoroughly sick of rain we could scream!

And I also have my hands on that Saturday Morning Cartoons 1960s Vol. 1 DVD I've mentioned a couple of times in connection with the Tara fanart. I haven't have a chance to watch much of it yet, but I can tell fellow Herculoids fans the following:
-The Herculoids are featured on Disc Two. The featured episode contains the stories "The Beaked People" and "The Raider Apes", which (according to the Big Cartoon Database was the premiere episode, first broadcast on September 9, 1967
-There's a "bonus feature", "The Herculoids: First Family of Quasar*", that runs about five minutes. It's mostly animation historians like Jerry Beck and current producers like Paul Dini talking about the show, and the comments don't rise much about the level of "this was such a cool show, it had dinosaurs in a science-fiction setting" and the like. But there are (all-too-brief) looks at some of the model sheets, storyboards and other pre-production art, as well as some brief clips from other Herculoids episodes not featured on this disc. It does make me somewhat hopeful that a full Season 1 set (basically all of the original 1967-68 cartoons) won't be too terribly long in coming.
*No, I won't go into why I like the name "Amzot" better than "Quasar" again...

Great job on the Herculoids pic. And yes, we've been getting lots of rain, too, in Guangzhou. At least we're not flooded. Helps wash away the air pollution and give the Dragon Boaters something to paddle in, I guess.
