Bad news, frustration

Several of my dA friends wanted me to post updates on the health of our cat Booger.

As I mentioned in my last journal, we (that is, my wife Janet :iconsweetzoomer: and I took the Boog to the vet to determine a) why he'd suddenly become so listless, and b) why the left side of his face had swollen up. Surgery removed an abcess in his jaw, and we were awaiting the results of a biopsy on some of the material removed.

Unfortunately, the news is not good. Booger has bone cancer in his jaw, and a life expectancy of only one to three more months. According to one of the techs we talked to, it's a "very aggressive" cancer.

There are "heroic" methods that can be attempted to try to prolong his life (radiation, or removing most of the upper jaw on his left side, for example), but nothing that will cure him of this condition. Most likely, we'll have to have him euthanized if he begins to suffer too much.

He's a pretty old cat - 13 years - and he's had a good life. We'll just have to steel ourselves for the inevitable, I suppose. It would have happened pretty soon anyway, because of his age.

We'll just have to continue to enjoy him for as long as we still have him, and we will miss him terribly when he...

********
And as if that wasn't enough bad news... we lost our Internet service over the past weekend! This past week, as a way of saving money (and also because Janet and I have gotten out of the habit of watching TV), we asked our cable service to cancel our TV service.

Well, they must've misunderstood and thought we wanted to cancel our entire service with them, because on Friday they also cut off our Internet. We've already contacted them about their mistake, and they said they could restore service... on Sunday! For once, they were as good as their word, and we're back on the Internet.

Now I want something good to happen, to balance out all this s--t.

Please know that, even if I can't thank you personally, your watches, faves and comments are always very much appreciated!

I'm sorry to hear that about Booger. :( One of my good friends had one of his dogs euthanized recently as well, the poor old thing.

That's really sad to hear! :( I'm sorry that you have to go through such a painful ordeal. Losing a pet is like losing a member of your family. Try to cherish every moment with Booger as much as you can.

Im sorry to hear that about your cat.

But as you said, Booger had a good life and as sad as it is, everything ends someday.

All i can say is that i feel with you scince i have 3 cats on my own and can imagine pretty well how you and your wife must feel now.

Cancer sucks. There is no other way to say it. My mom lost a cat 3 years ago to cancer, that was initially caused by a Rabies vaccination. 3 Surgeries to attempt to remove the tumors failed, and after that, we let her live out the remainder of her life the best we could..... Poor Princess Fluffy :tombstone:(tombstone icon has some stupid pop up text)
