Not only a patriotic theme for the month of July, it's also a "Tick Two-fer!"
I was having a hard time finding a patriotic-character theme for July this year; I've already done some of the most obvious ones, and others are obscure Golden-Age heroines like Liberty Belle that even die-hard comics fans wouldn't necessarily be familiar with.
Then I came across the book The Tick: Mighty Blue Justice! in my library. It's a compendium of information about the animated The Tick TV series... and reminded me that there was a heroine named "American Maid" as part of the supporting cast! Perfect.
Then, as I was searching the Web for better reference pics of American Maid, I found pics of the live-action TV show's version: Captain Liberty!
So here's Tetsuko as "American Maid", wielding her weapon of choice!
"I must say, Tetsuko does fill out the costume wonderfully. As for the animated series, I really loved it. It has a rare combination of action and humor, with an ability to poke loving fun at the superhero comic genre while still entertaining the audience. It was a sad day when the Fox TV network dropped the series. I do have one question; couldn't anyone come up with something American Maid could use as a throwing weapon aside from high heels? Maybe explosive-laden finger sandwiches?"

Professor Fate: Leslie escaped? General Kushter: With a small friar. Professor Fate: Leslie escaped with a chicken? General Kushter: No, you idiot! With a friar ... a monk ... a priest. [My favorite quote from Blake Edward's The Great Race.]
This is so cool. I loved the old Tick cartoon and I even got a copy of Mighty Blue Justice (same for my older brother on both counts). Incredible job on Tet-Chan as American Maid. Any chance we'll see her as Eclair or Jungle Janet?
